Registration and authorities
Registration - Citizens from Austria
According to the Austrian Registration Act, all persons who move into a new home or relocate in Austria must register or deregister with the registration authority within three days before or after the move.
The registration and deregistration of residence is regulated by the respective municipal office.

Registration - Citizens from the EEA
All citizens of the European Economic Area and Switzerland who do not require an additional residence permit due to their citizenship are obliged to register with the district authority in their new place of residence within four months of arrival if they plan to stay longer than three months.

Car and driver's license
Anyone whose main residence is registered in Austria and who brings their vehicle to Austria from abroad must re-register it within one month of entering the country.
A motor insurance provider of your choice will assist you with the re-registration.
EEA driving licenses (EU + Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway) are recognized in Austria and do not have to be transferred. Driving licenses from non-EEA countries must be converted to an Austrian driving license within six months.

Opening an account with an Austrian bank is recommended for monthly salary transfers. A bank account can be opened at any time on presentation of a valid identity card, driving license or passport.

Social insurance
Statutory social insurance for employees in Austria comprises health insurance, accident insurance, pension insurance and unemployment insurance.
Employees are automatically covered by health, accident and pension insurance. The employer may be responsible for applying for a social security number and a temporary e-card at the relevant social insurance institution. Children and (non-working) spouses can also be insured.

Childcare in the Montafon for the little ones
From Vandans to Gaschurn, the Montafon Family Center offers eight different locations for the little ones (0.5 - 3 years) in the Montafon.
Kindergartens in the Montafon
In kindergarten, children are prepared for school with targeted pre-school educational programs.
In Austria, children aged 3 to 6 are allowed to attend kindergarten.
