E-Mountainbike Hydropower-Route
Experience energy.
Guided tour with exclusive insights into Kopswerk II - where water becomes power.
This tour opens doors that would otherwise remain closed - and gives you rare insights into the world of Alpine hydropower. At the Kops reservoir, on the imposing dam wall and inside the Kopswerk II - one of the most important pumped-storage power plants in the Alps - you will experience how sustainable energy has been generated here for decades. You will learn how nature and technology interact in a special way in the Montafon. A tour for all those who not only want to collect altitude meters, but also want to understand what moves them.
Here you can find the GPS data to download.
Where water becomes energy
On this tour, you will learn to understand energy where it originates
Kops dam wall

The first highlight is the Kops dam - a technical masterpiece in the middle of a high alpine landscape. During a guided tour, you will learn about the history and function of the imposing dam wall. Particularly impressive: the walk over the top of the wall with a view of the turquoise-colored Kops reservoir and the surrounding peaks. Here you can see how precisely the art of engineering and landscape conservation interact in the Montafon.
Gasthof zum Guten Tropfen in Partenen

After the first tour, we take a leisurely lunch break at the Gasthof zum Guten Tropfen in Partenen - with time to take a deep breath, relax and enjoy stimulating conversation. Food is not included in the tour price, but is offered à la carte. If you prefer to bring your own snack, you can organize the break individually and then rejoin the group at the meeting point for the tour of Kopswerk II. Just as it suits you - relaxed and flexible.
Kops II power plant

The Kops II power plant is one of the most modern pumped-storage power plants in Europe. An expert guide will give you access to areas that are otherwise not open to the public. You will stand in the middle of the huge turbine hall, gain an insight into the control of the power plant processes and learn how electricity is generated around the clock through the intelligent use of differences in altitude - as the backbone of a climate-friendly energy future.
