Spend the night in a Montafon mountain hut
Are you planning a multi-day hike to the mountain huts of Vorarlberg?
The mountain huts and refuges in the Montafon also offer overnight accommodation. However, you should consider a few small things before your overnight stay and pack your rucksack accordingly.
What you mustn't miss out on when you spend the night in a hut: all your equipment.
- Don't rummage through other people's sheets: in other words, you usually have to bring your own sleeping bag to the huts!
- I pack the following in my rucksack: a toothbrush, my own towel and toothpaste! That way you'll always have fresh breath and there's no risk of your hiking companions fainting!
- Respect the environment: Pack a small bin bag. That way you can take your garbage back down into the valley with you!
- Let there be light: A headlamp is certainly an advantage. That way, going to the toilet at night won't be an obstacle course!
- Light sleeper? Then pack earplugs! You'll get a good night's sleep and you won't be bothered by the snoring of the person next to you!

The rucksack is packed, but there are certain "do's and don'ts" at every mountain hut in Vorarlberg that every overnight guest should be aware of. This is because the mountain huts in the Montafon are often in extreme locations and the supply route is not always the easiest.
"Good to know" facts at a glance:
- Scarce energy resources: The mountain huts in Vorarlberg are located at countless meters of altitude and are often only supplied with electricity and water generators. So use resources sparingly.
- Only cash is king: Pack enough cash in your "Gealdtäscha". Electronic payment is not possible in many huts.
- "Do not smoke": The rustic alpine huts are usually made entirely of wood. If you do get the "Gusta", please use the ashtrays outside.
- "House rules are house rules": Every mountain hut has its own individual house rules. Please internalize them, then the hut fun can begin.
