Historic Bartholomäberg mine brings mining history to life.
The 115-meter-long St. Anna tunnel in Vorarlberg's only show mine is a witness to the historical mining activities.
Under sparse and tough working conditions, iron ore was mined in the Montafon in long past times. This was particularly pronounced in Bartholomäberg – the proven cradle of the Montafon. The oldest traces of mining date back to the late Celtic period.
The location of the historic mine is also a special feature: The St. Anna tunnel is situated in the middle of a fascinating mining spoil landscape. To preserve this as a historical witness for posterity, the entire area was declared an archaeological monument and is thus under monument protection.
Opening times:
Mid-June to mid-October, every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm
