The circular route leads with little effort to Montafon mountain pastures, where the uniqueness of this cultural landscape has been preserved almost unchanged in parts. The traditional mountain pasture culture was shaped by a kind of semi-nomadic existence in mountain farming. After the cattle stayed on the home farm in the village during the winter, they were taken up to the mountain pasture in May, before moving up to the alp in summer. In autumn, they were let graze again on the mountain pasture. With very modest living conditions, this was an attempt to use all possibilities of fodder procurement. From the middle station of the Golmerbahn in the Tschagguns mountain pasture Matschwitz, you walk a few minutes on a farm road to the last houses, from where an old foot and cattle trail leads across meadows and through mountain forest into the Gauertal valley. You first reach the old mountain pasture huts of Plazadels. The mountain path continues upwards to the next mountain pasture Wachters-Dieja, from where you reach the Golmalpe (1660 m) in the forest on a farm road and finally return over scenic slopes to Matschwitz. Train, bus, and lift use is free for holders of the Montafon-Silvretta-Card. Mountain pasture huts in Plazadels are partly at least 200 years old. From there also splendid views of the valley end with Sulzfluh and Drei Türmen.
